Five years and Applesauce

Leah's Birthday
We officially have a 5 year old!!!
That might not seem so weird to some but it feels weird to me. It's sad that she's left that toddler stage. I know that doesn't make me old, but it feels like it just a little bit. Leah missed the deadline for school this year by a month, and I have to say that I wasn't upset about it. Even though she would not have minded. Leah loves to watch the school bus almost every morning and is constantly asking when she can go and why she can't go now. This year is going to go to fast.

Leah started talking about her birthday a good month before it came. Let's just say it made for a long month. She kept trying to move it up a day. She's definitly learned to use the "but it's my birthday" saying to her advantage. She was pretty good all day but she does have a sister and they do fight so there were probably a few times she should have been put in time out, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it on her birthday. So they both got off the hook a lot with a "just remember, tomorrow is no ones birthday".
Leah chose her own birthday cake. White cake with chocolate frosting. I forget that my family is not a cake eating family. Most of it got thrown away. I decided next year they can choose a candy bar and I'll just shove a candle in it. They'd eat that. Leah kept asking if she could have a flower for her birthday so Aaron surprised her with one after work. She was so excited about it and told everyone about her yellow flower in the "vale"(I just can't get her to remember to say vase). I decided not to do a birthday party with friends this year. Most people probaby think that's mean but I decided next year she'll be in school and it might be more exciting for her. And I'm just not up to doing every year. I guess we did invite a family that lives next to us. They have a couple of kids that she plays with alot. She seemed happy and it was a good day.

My first applesauce adventure!

My mom and marv had quite a few apples on their trees and since they're on a mission, they were just going to go to waste. I decided to attempt making applesauce and to my surprise they turned out great. Aaron was such a good sport about helping. The girls loved it, they wanted to take turns turning the grinder. When they got tired of that, they had a geat time just eating the applesauce as it got done. I wasn't really keeping tabs on how much they were consuming, but they seem to be fine.

K so your applesauce looks like it turned out great! I hope that mine will.
Thanks again for coming over Saturday and helping with the house. I am sure that Bryan would have been able to do it by himself but I know it would have taken him all day and I know that Aaron was great company for him cuz I wouldn't have been much help with my little stinker Oaky who thinks she has to have my total undevided attention!!!!
Have fun on your trip!!!!

Happy Birthday Leah!!!! Wow, 5 yrs old! That's exciting!

Your applesauce looks awesome. How do you make it? I am not domestic when it comes to that kind of stuff. Applesauce is one of my favorites so I would love to learn!

Happy Birthday Leah! Looks like she had a great day. Kate has been talking about her Birthday since she started preschool (last month). It's getting really old really fast!

Good job on the applesauce. You are brave. I'm always paranoid when the girls are "helping" me in the kitchen!

Tag, you're it. The rules are on my blog. Also, congratulations on having a five year old. Don't they grow up way too fast. We're looking at four years, and I can't believe it.

I know it's so wierd to think Broc will be 5 soon to, it does make me feel old. The Applesauce looks great, I want to do some this year but after every thing else I've canned this year I don't know if I'm up to it. When are you coming to Utah I would love to get together if you have time.

I think she is a smart girl to know she can say, well it's my birthday. Second, you aren't a bad or mean mom not to do a birthday party every year, kids don't care they just love whatever we give them. Third, where is your mom on a mission (I love that!) and Forth, I love homemade apple sauce, looks like you did a good job. How are you feeling with this pregnancy?
