Pumpkin Carving

It's just not Halloween without the mess of carving pumpkins.
We carved pumpkins with the girls last night and I think they turned out alright.
The girls have been asking everyday since we bought the pumpkins when we get to carve them. We waited till last night because it's actually been kind of warm the last couple days. I'm still worried they'll go bad before Halloween night. After the girls went to bed, we roasted the pumpkin seeds. I know a lot of people don't like the pumpkin seeds, but we love them. We accidentally left them in a little too long, but they still taste ok.

Aaron's the fastest pumpkin gutter. He had his and both of the girls cleaned out before I was done with mine.
We stripped the girls down to their underwear, but I put aprons on them so they wouldn't get too sticky. We let the girls try to clean theirs, & they pulled all the seeds out, but then they were done. Leah didn't like the sticky mess on her arms.
The girls decided what they wanted their faces to look like.Sad and Scary! They all look better in the dark.

Second Tag- Tagged by Melissa

I'm supposed to list six quirks about myself and then tag 6 people.
This is going to be hard

1. I'm a cleaning freak (although not as much when I'm pregnant. who wants to clean when they're pregnant. I hate having stuff out on the floor or the counter or anywhere people could see if they stopped by. I clean my house spotless every Friday but usually have to redo things during the week. My kids are only allowed to have toys in their room or the basement and they have to be put away every night. That's probably not too weird to some.
2. Like Melissa, all our shirts have to hang the same direction in the closet, but I take it a step further with my clothes and color coordinate them. It kind of reminds me of a rainbow. I only do it with my shirts though because it would be a lost cause keeping anyone elses shirts that way.

3. I usually start listening to Christmas music in October. I know that's extremely early, but I just can't help myself and I never get sick of it. I probably could listen to it all year. I don't do it when Aaron's around though. Shhh, don't tell.

4. I told you I'm a cleaner, but to contradict that, I hate doing laundry!!! Always!!! It usually takes me 4-5 days to get it folded and put away and to make it worse, I refuse to iron. So I hurry and pull the shirts out and lay them straight so they aren't wadded in the basket. They don't get as rinkly, but Aaron still has to iron his here and there. Luckily he doesn't mind. It's a bad habit because I feel like I'm always doing laundry.

5. I won't let people touch my dishwasher. I have a certain way I do it and if anyone else puts there dishes in it I redo it. It's a waste of time for anyone to try putting the dishes in becuase it's just going to get redone. Most people that have eaten with us know this and they don't even try anymore.

6. I'm an extremely fast eater. I don't know why, but I've always inhaled my food. So at our house I'm usually the last one to dish my plate up, but the first one finished. I usually have eveything cleaned up by the time my family gets done. I know it's not healthy, but I just can't make myself remember to slow down.

I tag Amanda, Nika, Chey, Courtney, Michelle, & Cami, good luck!

Third Tag- Tagged by my sister-in-law Megan
You're supposed to post the sixth picture from your sixth file.
This picture is from a family reunion camping trip a couple years ago.
I tag anyone who looks at this one.

Five years and Applesauce

Leah's Birthday
We officially have a 5 year old!!!
That might not seem so weird to some but it feels weird to me. It's sad that she's left that toddler stage. I know that doesn't make me old, but it feels like it just a little bit. Leah missed the deadline for school this year by a month, and I have to say that I wasn't upset about it. Even though she would not have minded. Leah loves to watch the school bus almost every morning and is constantly asking when she can go and why she can't go now. This year is going to go to fast.

Leah started talking about her birthday a good month before it came. Let's just say it made for a long month. She kept trying to move it up a day. She's definitly learned to use the "but it's my birthday" saying to her advantage. She was pretty good all day but she does have a sister and they do fight so there were probably a few times she should have been put in time out, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it on her birthday. So they both got off the hook a lot with a "just remember, tomorrow is no ones birthday".
Leah chose her own birthday cake. White cake with chocolate frosting. I forget that my family is not a cake eating family. Most of it got thrown away. I decided next year they can choose a candy bar and I'll just shove a candle in it. They'd eat that. Leah kept asking if she could have a flower for her birthday so Aaron surprised her with one after work. She was so excited about it and told everyone about her yellow flower in the "vale"(I just can't get her to remember to say vase). I decided not to do a birthday party with friends this year. Most people probaby think that's mean but I decided next year she'll be in school and it might be more exciting for her. And I'm just not up to doing every year. I guess we did invite a family that lives next to us. They have a couple of kids that she plays with alot. She seemed happy and it was a good day.

My first applesauce adventure!

My mom and marv had quite a few apples on their trees and since they're on a mission, they were just going to go to waste. I decided to attempt making applesauce and to my surprise they turned out great. Aaron was such a good sport about helping. The girls loved it, they wanted to take turns turning the grinder. When they got tired of that, they had a geat time just eating the applesauce as it got done. I wasn't really keeping tabs on how much they were consuming, but they seem to be fine.
